Win a Teacher Party!

carnival_ticketsHorn Families!

This year our Silent Auction will again feature Teacher Parties!  For new families: your student and a few friends have the chance at a unique, out of school experience with their teacher!  There are two identical parties offered for each grade; you may win by placing the highest bid OR by having your raffle ticket drawn.  Raffle tickets are $1.00 apiece.  Here are the parties up for grabs this year!
1. Be Principal or Librarian for a Day!  Win this party and your student will spend the day with Mrs. Deprenger and Mrs. Cannon running the school! A special lunch will be provided as well! -(One Student May win this via high bid and one via raffle)
2. Join our Specials teachers (Mr. Hildebrand, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Hagen) for a movie!  3 students per each party will attend an age appropriate movie, concessions provided as well!
2. Attend a University of Iowa Women’s Gymnastics meet!  The Kindergarten team will take 3 students per each party to watch our UI gymnasts in action!  Snacks will be provided at the event.
3. Go Bowling with our First Grade team!  3 students per each bowling party will get to bowl at Colonial Lanes and hit the snack bar as well!
4. Get a Hurts Donut with our Second Grade team!  Donuts will be followed up by a trip to ST Morrison Park to burn off that sugar rush!4 students per each party for this one!
5. Go to Pagliai’s for a pizza party with our Third Grade team!  3 students per each party will indulge in delicious pizza at this Iowa City favorite!
6. Play games and eat pizza at Forbidden Planet with our Fourth Grade team!  4 students per each party will get to have fun battling it out with vintage arcade games and wrap up with tasty pizza!
7. Have a budding artist?  Our 5th grade team will take 3 students per party to Renee’s Ceramics to paint pottery!
8. Despite the wonderful Mrs. Junge having retired–she is still hosting the always popular and anticipated 6th grade team Pontoon Party! Cruise Lake McBride in style–6 students per party on this one!
9. Have lunch in the office with Mrs. Cannon, Mrs. Bell and Hemi!  A special lunch will be provided for 2 students per each party, with great company!
The BEST way to win a high bid party is to go in on your purchase with other families!  Find some friends that want to have this unique experience with your child and their teachers and bid together!
You may bid on and buy raffle tickets to ALL of the parties, not just the grade your student(s) are in.
Want to buy raffle tickets but can’t attend the carnival?  No problem!  Use this link here to pre-purchase, just be sure to specify which parties you would like your tickets to go to!  We will take care of the rest!
If you are interested in winning a high bid party but can’t attend you will need to ask a friend to do your bidding for you!
Watch for another annoucement coming soon with the rest of our exciting auction items!

Winter Carnival is Near – Can you Volunteer?

carnival_ticketsHorn School will host its annual Winter Carnival and Silent Auction on Saturday, Feb 6th! The Horn classrooms transform into carnival games, the Art Room into a relaxing cafe, and the evening ends in a fun-filed auction/raffle where everyone has the chance to win parties with a special teacher. We need volunteers for helping with games, working in the Hornet cafe, baking cakes, and baking for Hornet Cafe.

You can also sign up to request a buddy for your child (a Horn 5th-6th grade student that will chaperon your child) so they can experience the winter carnival without you, while you help us out.

>> Learn ALL about the Winter Carnival HERE! <<

Silent Auction Callers:

Feeling creative? Game tickets will be awarded to the most creative entries! This years theme for the cake walk decorating contest is “Tell Me A Story”. So have your children start brainstorming! Both adults and kids are encouraged to participate in the decorating contest. The cake walk is a popular game and we need many many cakes!  Purchased baked goods are also very welcomed.
