Curriculum Nights at Horn

Please join us for a student led open house between 6:00 and 7:30pm!   We know everyone is very busy in the evenings, so feel free to come and go as you please.

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade – Tuesday, September 27th

3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Grade – Wednesday, September 28th

The Horn Staff is excited to welcome you and celebrate the start of a great school year.

During the open house, students will lead their families around their classroom and to other areas of the school on a guided scavenger hunt.  This is a time where your Horn student will show you what they’ll be learning this year in all of their classes.  We hope you will come and explore the classroom materials.

Classroom teachers will be available to answer questions and provide more information.  Specials teachers will be in attendance one of the two evenings.  You may visit their classrooms or an alternate activity related to their content area will be provided.  Specials includes music, physical education, art, media and guidance.

Horn Chess Club

Horn Chess Club will kick off September 26 and meet each Monday from 3:00-3:45 in Miss Cummins’ Kindergarten classroom.

Chess Club is an opportunity for Horn students in kindergarten through 6th grade to practice their chess skills.  All levels are welcome.  Chess Club participants will also have the opportunity to participate in chess tournaments throughout the year.

Volunteers are needed to make chess club run smoothly.  A basic knowledge of how the pieces move is helpful and necessary to volunteer.  Click here to volunteer: Volunteer Sign-Up

Participants and their parents need to complete the attached behavior agreement in order to begin participation in chess club.  Paper copies are also available in the Horn office.
